ÜMI-Igelschule e.V. is a publicly funded parents' association that has been offering reliable after-school care for children at the Igelschule elementary school since 2008.

The after-school care service was founded as a parents' initiative, initially with one group. The aim was to provide after-school care for elementary school children. Further groups were added in 2009, 2015, 2020 and 2023, meaning that ÜMI now consists of five groups. The ÜMI is made up of the board, the educational team, a housekeeper, an educational management team and a commercial manager. The board consists of honorary members of the association and a special representative, who work closely with the educational management team and the commercial management in the background.

We are a non-denominational institution with children from a wide range of nationalities. This is also reflected in the composition of the association's members.

The legal basis is laid down in the association's statutes and rules of procedure.

We are financed by members' contributions, donations and support from the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg. The contributions are payable monthly and can be claimed as childcare costs at the tax office.

All-day care in cooperation with the Igelschule elementary school

In addition to our childcare services (Tuesdays, Fridays, bridging days and vacations), we currently provide all-day childcare for the first year as part of our cooperation with the Igelschule elementary school.
